Frequently Asked Questions
How many subscribers do I need for YouTube monetization?
500 subscribers for YPP Base Tier (memberships, Super Thanks), and 1,000 subscribers for YPP Full Tier (ad revenue). Both tiers also require a minimum watch hours or Shorts views threshold.
How long does YouTube take to review my YPP application?
YouTube typically reviews applications within 1 month. You will receive an email when approved or declined. If declined, you can reapply after 30 days. Common rejection reasons include insufficient content, policy violations, or inauthentic activity.
Can I lose YouTube monetization after being approved?
Yes. If your channel falls below the requirements for an extended period or receives Community Guidelines strikes, YouTube may remove monetization. Channels are periodically reviewed to ensure continued eligibility.
