BLDC Fan Savings Calculator

Compare existing fans with BLDC replacements at a similar speed and airflow. Calculate energy saved across all fans, running-cost differences and simple payback on the extra upgrade cost.

Inputs

For an early replacement, enter the full replacement cost after any resale value.

Example power pair

Use comparable fan speeds and airflow. Example pairs are illustrative, not guaranteed BLDC ratings.

For seasonal use, count only days the appliance runs.

Daily usage
Electricity rate

Editable example. Use the rate on your bill.

Currency changes the display unit, not the rate. No exchange-rate conversion is applied.

How this calculator works

Compare equal service

Power varies by model and speed. Enter watts for comparable airflow and use the same hours for both fan types. The example pairs are editable scenarios, not a guaranteed wattage or saving for every BLDC fan.

Count the entire replacement

Quantity multiplies both energy use and the entered upgrade cost per fan. For a planned purchase, the relevant extra cost may be the price premium. For replacing working fans early, include the full replacement cost after any resale value.

Handle zero and negative savings honestly

If the replacement uses the same or more electricity, or the rate or annual usage is zero, there is no positive energy-cost payback. The calculator shows extra running cost when applicable and does not clamp it into an invented saving.

Calculation formulas

Daily kWh saved = (Existing W − BLDC W) × Hours × Number of fans ÷ 1,000Annual cost saved = Daily kWh saved × Annual usage days × RatePayback years = Extra cost per fan × Fan count ÷ Positive annual saving

Worked example

Illustration: replacing three 75 W fans with three 35 W fans used 12 hours daily saves 1.44 kWh/day. At an example ₹8/kWh over 365 usage days, that is ₹4,204.80/year. An extra ₹1,500 per fan, or ₹4,500 total, has a simple payback of about 1.07 years.

Understanding the estimate

All prefilled powers, usage patterns and rates are editable examples. This tool runs locally in your browser. Energy-only estimates are not complete electricity bills, and comparisons are scenarios rather than guaranteed savings.

Frequently asked questions

How much electricity does a BLDC fan use?

Use the power stated for the specific model and speed, or a measured value. The calculator does not treat one example wattage as the rating of every BLDC fan.

Does the upgrade cost apply to one fan or all fans?

Enter the extra cost per fan. The tool multiplies it by fan count to calculate the total upfront cost and simple payback.

Why is payback unavailable?

Payback needs positive annual cost savings. Zero usage, a zero electricity rate, or a replacement that uses at least as much energy provides no energy-cost saving to recover the upgrade cost.
